Very nice tone. Look like a cross between a djembe and a darabouka ? . ... but can he play funk like us Surdo players though ?
Hmmm interesting. Very good player. However, does it swing? Does it inspire? The guy plays like he's dead! It reminds me a bit of hard rock guitar solos - technically incredibly difficult and fast, but is it beautiful music? Can you dance to it?
By the way, you may notice that roughly in the middle of the movie he plays a rhythm that is very similar to the Maculele that we played with Carlos last week. Which, indeed, is a rhythm straight from Africa.
