- Collect/make photos of all current members (in action!), as well as some further information like 'date of joining', 'a short paragraph about yourself' and 'favorite instrument'. This information will then be uploaded to a new 'who is who' page on the members area of the brisamba.com website. We have so many people now so it will make it easier for new members to learn who is who.
- Investigate new surdo straps. This job is probably best for a surdo player. Investigate what kind of strap is best, where to get them from, what price, or do we need to make something ourselves or get some made for us.

Volunteers wanted
If you have a little bit of time left and want to do something extra for the samba school, I could do with a couple of volunteers for the following tasks:

Carpenter's belt, Remko. Around $20.00 at the hardware stores.
(a) Easy for people to figure out how to put it on. (b) the more people use the softer the leather , the more comfortable it is (c) If people feel it a bit too short, extended with a few cheap carabiners from K-mart (d) easy and CHEAP to REPLACE , if gone missing (e) real and thick leather which doesn't break.
I've tried all sorts of straps before and the carpenter's belt is the most comfortable . Mine has gone missing and I missed it dearly.
Ok if we turn this into a surdo strap discussion here are my 2 cents:
1) leather is good
2) carpenter belt is easy to get, but a bit heavy and inflexible for my taste. Indeed too short
3) As Brian said, easy to put it on. Also, I think the "full body" straps are not very good for parading
Maybe someone can investigate if custom belts can be made, not too thick, adjustable and with the right hardware to attach a surdo?
Brian I'm sure I've seen your strap not too long ago?
Oi! why can't I log on to the members section anymore? Just because I didn't show up for a few rehearsals recently?
Jees - out of sight, out of mind, eh?
I second Brian's surdo strap - especially seeing as mine is permanently attached to one of the second surdos.
The best strap combo in my humble opinion is as follows:
1x Carpenter's belt + 1x sturdy carribena + 1x possum = poifection!
P.S. You can always lengthen the strap using the belt holes - that's what they're there for!
Remko, Aussie cows are very expensive ! Those $20.00 ones are cheap imports.
May be synthetic rock climbing straps are the better option but less adjustable. They're lighter. "K-2 Base camp" in the Valley do sell them by the meters.
Together with the "possum" . . . . " poifection" ! Hey, Claire ? ! ? !
Marcel, why do you want to access the member area ? Do you wanna sing with us ? . . . . there are only audio tracks and lyrics for singing.
I volunteer MARCEL to do the photo things since he is desperately want to be Brisamba members . :-)
Please exploin? When you talk about "carpenter's belt" are you talking about a leather belt that just goes around the waist, like a, ummm, belt? Or are you talking about using a belt but having it on the diagonal across the body from the shoulder to the waist?
The later one Patty, " . . . using a belt but having it on the diagonal across the body from the shoulder to the waist? "
Back to the original question people, anyone willing to stick their hand up?
I'll volunteer to do the first one Remko!! I'll take photos of everyone and distribute a little slip of paper with some questions (eg. name, favourite instrument, next instrument to learn, favourite music, why you love samba, perhaps? I'm open to suggestions!!) and people can return them to me or email me responses. I'll then put it all together and give it to you. How does that sound?
Thanks Ereni, I'll email you to discuss further.
