Don't think it it's worth scaring people. small disciplined steps following the fundamentals will make good tamborim players - followed by constant repetition - will ensure you can tackle an arrangement like this.

I've noticed the surdo players ( 05:52 ) don't move ( or dance ) much except for the forearms beating the drum. Good way of conserving energy. I'll try that next time.
Brian, good point. Not just for conserving energy, but especially for maintaining the rhythm without slowing down or speeding up. I was going to comment on the surdo players as well, I think around the 1:40 - 1:50 mark: notice how she is almost playing like a robot, all motion comes from her elbow. Very tight.
