- 6.40pm - 7.00pm: on special request from Angus: "surdo for dummies". Focus will be on how the surdos 'sit' in the rhythm with the cavaquinho
- 7.00pm - 7.30pm: pagode
- 7:30pm - 9:30pm: bateria rehearsal. NOTE: the Roar will come with some flag bearers to rehearse some aspects of what we try to achieve in the Stadium this year. I'll just incorporate this into our normal practice.
More on the Roar games very soon by the way.
See you there!

Nicely done! now if you type "surdo for dummies" on google, this blog ranks 3d (could change between countries though).
:D
Make sure you don't teach too much while I am away. I look forward to being back soon.
By the way Paul, it also ranks third on google Taiwan.
While we're on the subject of surdos, there's something we need to practice between now and October. Apparently we are going to play songs in October. So we need to practice playing fast but softly. As *back up* rather than *drown out*. This way the singer will actually be able to be heard. Bash-trance surdo playing is not always the best way. (Like my new word?) :)
Agreed Patty. Although, with some singers (ahum) it might be better if the surdos are louder than the singer.
But yes, I have recently noticed some people focus on trashing it. Besides the impact on the surdo skins and the ear drums, it just doesn't sound nice.
Paul - what made you type "surdo for dummies" into Google???
Hey this is fun! Google "Brian's dancing and drumming ankle" and see how high we score!
