Documentary on Samba tonight

There's a documentary on at SBS tonight 10pm:

Samba! follows the six month build up to Rio's famous carnival. Beneath the light and glitter, a battle is underway between the carnival's aging founders and the new businessmen with different interest that now run it. Is carnival nowadays still a pure celebration of popular art, or has it become big business and a tough competition? Who really owns the biggest party on earth?

For those of you that missed it, this was actually quite a good documentary. I've called them and a DVD will be available close to April. Time for another Samba movie night...!

Erin & myself watched after we had been doing some recording. Really interesting and ejoyable. What I liked was the singing which really made the songs come alive. I still have the melody lines running around my head. Loved the old lady still doing a good samba at 86. Theres hope for me yet! I would love to have a load of us go and particpate with the surprise entry from wait no yes its Brisbane!! and they win!!

Tee hee, that would be classic. We might need to improve 'the look' before we do that; the gloss-and-glitz comp is harsh man!
