Interesting. O well, as long as it doesn't involve any djembes!

I'm not sure how the format will be like. Probably more "Afro-...." than "...-Brazilian" since Elliott who is the one that organize the workshops. Lots of djembe folas for sure . I'll bring mine as well , Remko !

..... big chance for me to learn the shekere from the source... and Maracatu !

Shekere maybe, Maracatu very unlikely. I'd love to attend the workshops as long as they really focus on what they do: samba-reggae Olodum style!

Perhaps you should contact Elliott rather than speculating otherwise there's a sizeable chance that you could be very disappointed. A dialogue between the two organisations could be very useful in getting what everyone wants out of this situation.
Furthermore, this is an excellent case for why the samba school should be in regular contact with other drumming groups in Brisbane and around Australia. Can you imagine how pissed off everyone would've been had Brian not posted this and we'd have missed out entirely?

Wise words, Claire... Brian please contact Elliott and find out what the deal is and post details here. Main questions I've got: what's the structure (1 day or 2 days), what will be taught, will it be the real Samba Reggae (=no djembe, sorry) and price. And, do we get a discount if we go as a group? A good question to ask is if instruments are provided, if so what kind of instruments. This will give us an idea if it will be the real deal (which maybe matters more to me than you).

Remko, It's best you call Elliott. Too many questions to ask and I won't remember them all.

Remko, If you offer Elliott to hire your musical instrument out for the day will surely get a lot of discount.

Elliott hiring out his djembes $5.00 per class with his regular workshops.

Put Remko down for 5 djembes, that should hold 'im! For the weekend at least.
