" Official " Brisbane Samba School Uniform

Should we abandon the idea of "Official " Brisbane Samba School Uniform ?

" Creative Pink & Green " theme is working very well. Look at Erin ,Miki, Gail, Patty and Dale for example. A standard uniform would squashed people individuality .

What do you guys think ? Why fix what is working for us ?

There are certainly situations where the creative pink & green works well. However, there are also situations where it doesn't and where a uniform would look much better. An example is our performance in Suncorp stadium, where people are so far away that the only way to make a visual impact is to, well, have something uniform. I've got a couple of videos from the event where this is quite clear. The other area to be improved by the way is the way we all march in a parade (or onto a field)... the chaos is striking.

I think this would only really work well if we all chose the exact same shade of pink and green.

Also, please spare a though for those of us who are pink-and-green challenged (well, at least wardrobe wise).

Bring on the uniform, I say, with room for variation. I think that makes it a variform.

(1) I agree with Remko
(2) Talking about it is fine; actually getting it organised is entirely another thing! ;)

There is of course a large untapped need for the first Brisbane 'Naturist' Samba group. G.R.E.S unidos Urghhh! This new group should adopt the movement "natural" pioneered in Finland in the 60's under the wing of the Bahia school. This lets the swing merge with the natural elements to achieve a 'unique' unity with nature. Alternatively adoption of Samba Cockold of the sub movement form and intergrated with popular bird song and Samba "natural" creating the unique blend of Samba-canção into slower more rythmic chanting and naked arcrobatic poses such as the famious 'Samba' pyramidic form. The author feels this is a must for Brisbane at this stage

Oh and on the uniform, lets just get on with the bloody thing

Oh and giving up is not an option. A uniform is a must as the presentation reflects the organisation and the environment and in fact drives belonging and behaviour. Fact! This buggering about for nearly two years does not reflect well on the group and has I believe lead to dissention and de motivation.

Melanie, great to see you active on "the blog"! My observation is that you write like you speak: way too many words and it doesn't all make sense to me. ;-)

Some people have more 'creative' in their wardrobe than others and some people are more open to flying their 'freak flag' in performances. At the moment the distribution of 'crazy' throughout the dress code is WAY too uneven and we lose a lot of impact. We need at least a certain level of crazyness in a base uniform which can then be amplified if the gig/ personality dictates it.
I'm over waiting. Let's just get on with it.

Claire, can I steal your words for a t-shirt slogan I'm so over waiting ?

Claire said...

Yes, Marcel. You may. I think you should write it in japanese though.

Marcel said...

That would be
私は待っていることにそうある

to be honest, I think it loses some of its punch that way.

Chinese is a bit more compact:
我是如此在等待

Greek, anyone?
Είμαι έτσι πέρα από την αναμονή
